The benefits of prenatal massage can improve overall prenatal health for many pregnant women. Along with the guidance and advice of a prenatal care provider, massage therapy can be incorporated into routine prenatal care.
As an emotional and physical health supplement it improves pregnancy outcomes and maternal health. Consult with your midwife or obstetrician before beginning any new therapeutic practice.
Massage therapy during pregnancy has been shown to provide many benefits, including a sense of wellness, improved relaxation, and better sleep.
Prenatal massage therapy can help reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health.
You must be in your first trimester before receiving a prenatal massage. We are certified in prenatal massages and will place body pillows to ensure a comfortable and safe treatment for you and your baby. We will also use a gentler massage technique than a standard Swedish.
Hormone regulation - hormones associated with relaxation and stress are significantly altered when massage therapy is introduced to women’s prenatal care, and it improves mood and cardiovascular health.
Improvement of nerve pain - Many women in late pregnancy experience sciatic nerve pain as the uterus rests on the pelvic floor and lower back muscles. The pressure of the uterus spreads tension to the powers of the upper and lower leg, causing them to swell and put pressure on nearby nerves. Massage therapy addresses inflamed nerves by helping to release the tension in nearby muscles.
Reduction of swelling - Edema, or swelling of the joints during pregnancy, is often caused by reduced circulation and increased pressure on the major blood vessels by the heavy uterus. Massage helps to stimulate soft tissues to facilitate the collection of fluids in swollen joints. It also improves the removal of tissue waste from the body’s lymph system.

We are certified prenatal massage therapists, so you know that you and your baby will be safe and comfortable during the treatment. Pregnancy can be stressful, and you deserve to be stress-free for yourself and your baby!
We will review your intake form before your massage therapy. Include any allergies, what areas you would like worked on if any conditions need to be addressed, and any health concerns and medications.
You will then be led to your massage room and given a few minutes of privacy to get undressed and under the sheet in preparation for your therapist to return for treatment.
Your prenatal massage therapy is customized to your needs and can help alleviate anything from stress to sports-induced aches. Many of our clients come as often as twice a week or as infrequent as once per month, it depends on their needs.
